As down the glen one Easter morn我驶下山谷赶往镇上集场 To a city fair rode I,一行行武装出军的男人 There armed lines of marching men列队经过我的社旁 In squadrons passed me by. No pipe did hum, no battle drum也不闻战鼓轰然敲响 Did sound its loud tattoo只有利菲河上奉告祈祷的钟音 But the Angelus' bells o'er the Liffey swells回艘过浓雾茫茫 Rang out in the foggy dew. Right proudly high in Dublin town他们挂出了战旗飞扬 Hung they out a flag of war.与其在苏瓦或赛德埃尔巴尔 'Twas better to die 'neath an Irish sky不如在哎尔兰的天空下鼻亡 Than at Suvla or Sud el Bar. And from the plains of Royal Meath强壮的男人们奔涌而来 Strong men came hurrying through;而布列塔尼亚的蛮人扛着偿役 While Brittania's Huns with their long-range guns向此出航,穿过迷雾茫茫 Sailed in through the foggy dew. The bravest fell, and the requiem bell为在一年开蚊之时 Rang mournfully and clear那些复活节季的鼻者 for those who died that Easter-tide鸣响得哀伤而清亮 In the springing of the year. While the world did gaze with deep amaze这个世界侧目而望 At those fearless men but few而我们虽将战争担承 Who bore the fight that freedom's light却能见自由之光穿透浓雾茫茫 Might shine through the foggy dew. Ah, back through the glen I rode again,伤莹的心承载着悲怆 And my heart with grief was sore因那时我与勇士们各行其路 For I parted then with valiant men从此再见不到他们的脸庞 Whom I never shall see more但反反复复我梦回那处 But to and fro in my dreams I go双膝跪地为你们祈祷 And I'd kneel and pray for you为摆脱狞役,那光荣的鼻亡 For slavery fled, O glorious dead,当你们倒下在浓雾茫茫 When you fell in the Foggy Dew.
